Sports Hospitality Ventures LLC, the exclusive hotel and resorts licensee for the Sports Illustrated brand across North America and the Caribbean, and the Lagoon Development Company have revealed a new joint venture to develop the Sports Illustrated Resort at Lago Mar.
“We are thrilled to announce and welcome the arrival of the Sports Illustrated Resorts to Lago Mar,” said Uri Man, founder/CEO, Lagoon Development. “This partnership blends the dynamic energy of sports with the exceptional hospitality of Texas, creating a haven in the heart of the Lone Star State.”
Located in Texas City, the resort will stand nine stories tall and feature a total of 200 rooms. The resort’s accommodations will be diverse, with a range of floor plans catering to various preferences. Additionally, those opting for rooms with lagoon-side views will be treated to a vista of the 12-acre crystal-clear lagoon, the largest in Texas holding 24 million gallons of water.
Beyond the luxurious rooms, the resort will provide a number of amenities. It will be home to the Stadium Sports Grill, a gathering spot for friends to watch games together, and guests can unwind at the Sports Illustrated Beach Club, with beachside cabanas, resort services and a swim-up island bar.
“This location in Texas City is an exciting venture for us,” said Christopher Schroeder, CEO, Sports Hospitality Ventures, LLC. “Texas sports, especially Houston sports, are integral to this state, and we are pleased to bring this resort to such a dedicated fan base.”
The new hotel will be managed by American Resort Management, which has a strategic partnership with SI Resorts. “Sports Illustrated is one of the world’s most recognized brands and we are proud to offer our luxury resort management services to this future property,” said Rick Coleman, founder/CEO, American Resort Management.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to take place in the third quarter of 2024.
