UK: Boutique hotel Ravenstone Lodge, located in the Lake District, has been acquired by the owners of neighbouring Ravenstone Manor Hotel for £1.245 million.
The acquisition of Ravenstone Lodge marks the fifth property in the Lake District National Park for Mawdsley Bleachers Limited.
Formerly three cottages, a coach house and stables to the Ravenstone Manor house, the lodge was converted into a hotel in the 1950s. As well as nine bedrooms, Ravenstone Lodge includes a 26-cover restaurant and a 16-seat bar.
Mike and Jane Cornish acquired the business in 2007. The property underwent a soft refurbishment during their ownership, with the couple now looking to retire.
Mr Cornish said: “We’ve had a great time running our own business in these beautiful surroundings, creating a hotel we’re proud of and making many memories with our guests. We’re really pleased to be handing the business over to a company that is really dedicated to preserving high quality hospitality in the region.”
Charlie Mawdsley from Mawdsley Bleachers Limited said: “We’re delighted to have acquired Ravenstone Lodge and are looking forward to bringing it within our current offering. The Lake District National Park continues to be a strong draw for domestic and international tourism thanks to its stunning scenery and the quality of activities available within the region.”
Commercial real estate firm Colliers handled the sale. Neil Thomson from the hotels team added: “We are pleased that we have been able to assist Mike and Jane with the sale of their business. Ravenstone Lodge generated a large volume of enquiries due to its successful trading and stunning location within the Lake District National Park. This concludes our 58th hotel sale in Cumbria since the start of 2021, demonstrating the strength of the market. We would like to wish its new owners every success for the future.”
