UK: Construction work extending the luxury boutique WILDES Chester hotel will resume with a planned completion for spring 2026.
Work on the project was paused in 2022 whilst awaiting additional planning permission for the expanded property. It followed the acquisition of an adjacent building to extend the hotel’s spa, roof space and restaurant.
Plans have been approved for a spa with a 32-foot rooftop pool and terrace, multiple treatment rooms and an amphitheatre sauna with views across Bridge Street.
The hotel’s restaurant, X by Harry Guy, will seat 50 covers and serve a British menu.
Additional bedroom suites will also bring the total to 18. One of the rooms is set to feature a four-seater cinema, and all rooms will come with a freestanding bath and skylight.
Paul Wildes, CEO of The WILDES Hotel Group, said: “We are thrilled that work is set to resume on site, after a long wait we are more determined than ever to ensure the hotel, spa and restaurant will be like nothing the city has seen before.
“We are grateful to Grosvenor, whom we have acquired a long lease for the building from, and thank them for their continued support of our plans. We hope that Chester’s growing population of residents and tourists will enjoy this little corner of luxury that we will bring to the historic city centre,” he added.
WILDES Chester is set to open in spring 2026.
The WILDES Group has a growing portfolio of hotels, restaurants and spas in the North West of England. The Chester site will be the first fully-branded WILDES property for the group.
