Italy: The Social Hub has opened the doors of its new hybrid hospitality hub in Florence.
The €150 million (£125.5 million) development, located in the San Jacopino district, follows The Social Hub Lavagnini as the Dutch company’s second property in Florence.
The 80,000-square-metre project includes a 550-room hotel, Tuscany’s largest coworking space with a capacity for 500 professionals, and conference facilities for over 300 guests. The hub also offers a 24-hour gym, retail spaces, bars, and restaurants, as well as a 7,000-square-metre rooftop featuring a public garden and an Olympic-length swimming pool.
The Social Hub’s in-house real estate team led the project, which was developed over six years in collaboration with Studio Natalini, a Florence-based architecture firm. The design takes inspiration from Florence’s Renaissance heritage, with architecture studio Rizoma leading the interiors.
The rooftop garden, designed by landscape architect Antonio Perazzi, features over 3,500 perennial plants, 500 shrubs, and 55 trees. This is partof a broader municipal plan to increase green spaces in the neighbourhood.
Recently certified as B Corp, The Social Hub highlighted its commitment to fostering community. The new hub will host over 600 events annually, ranging from language and cooking workshops to professional development sessions and fitness classes.
The Social Hub CEO Charlie MacGregor said: “When we first invested inItaly nearly a decade ago, many doubted our success. But throughcollaboration with the municipality, architects and local partners, we havecreated two thriving hubs in Florence. The Social Hub Belfiore reflects ourevolving model—one that revitalises neighbourhoods by responding totheir needs.”
