The Bellevue, Philadelphia’s Grande Dame hotel of the 21st Century, reawakens 120 years after her founding – with a season of debuts throughout 2025. Heralding Philadelphia’s vivacious energy, distinctive culture and remarkable sense of community, The Bellevue is a timeless adoration of the city, inviting global travelers and rooted locals back to Center City to experience her living heritage.
The Bellevue’s groundbreaking renovation reinvents the true modern grand hotel experience and brings back the heartbeat of Center City. Pulsing with, storied architectural expression, reimagined rooms and suites, an ultimate athletic, fitness and social destination within The Sporting Club, distinguished private events spaces, and culinary destinations in addition to Pergola on the 19th floor.
Visionary Design: Owners and visionaries, Dean Adler, sought to continue The Bellevue’s elegance and grandeur by the power of collaboration, bringing together some of the most heralded designers in the industry. The creative team, led by Tony Machado, who was drawn to the hotel’s potential after a visit to Philadelphia, discovered The Bellevue’s modern expression by peeling back the layers of rich history and the stories they told. The vision was further refined with design collaborators Grace Song Studio, Ward + Gray, and Anouska Hempel. These powerful collaborators brought forth a sense of authenticity, layering in and collecting unique pieces rooted in historical context, while adding drama and flair for romance expected from a Grande Dame. All efforts bring a focus on community vitality and connection, reinforcing The Bellevue’s role as a social anchor in the city.
Rooms & Suites: The Bellevue’s new collection of 184 guest rooms and 38 suites showcase modern pied-e-terres, capturing the feeling of effortless elegance, nostalgia and warmth. Harmoniously pairing eclectic style with timeless sensibility, guests step into a world where history meets modernity. Motifs integral to the building’s French Renaissance architecture such as detailed millwork, classical fireplace mantles in the suites, and honed marble floor tiles were crafted to feel as if they’ve always been there. The soon-to-be-revealed Presidential Suite, spanning over 1,800 square feet, is designed with unprecedented comforts and boasts sweeping views of Broad Street’s bustling energy.
Each room holds a unique footprint, with room types including King City View, King Courtyard View, Deluxe King, Two Queen and Two Queen Deluxe. Suites include Junior Suite, One Bedroom Suite, One Bedroom Corner Suite, One Bedroom King Suite and the Presidential Suite.
In addition to its new guest rooms, this fall, The Bellevue provides access for hotel guests and residents to the 100,000 square foot The Sporting Club, as well as introducing reimagined wedding and event spaces with expert partner Cescaphe, and offering the chance to lease now The Residences, and additional floors of commercial office space. Key highlights include:
- Meeting & Event Spaces: With over 30,000 square feet across three levels, The Bellevue establishes itself as Philadelphia’s premier venue for weddings, galas, and special events, with renowned partner Cescaphe at the helm. The “Grand Belle,” the hotel’s famed ballroom once graced by U.S. presidents like Theodore Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan, has been fully reimagined for large-scale celebrations, featuring the original ornate wall and ceiling moldings, replica chairs that nod to its opera house origins, and boasting black wrought-iron railings, light herringbone wood floors, and elegant lighting fixtures. On the famed 19th floor, XIX offers expansive spaces for weddings, galas, and high-profile functions. Once housing The Bellevue’s former a la carte dining, the Pearl Room, Cameo Room and Rose Garden come together to create The Bellevue’s unique event venue showcasing 30-foot high rotunda ceilings and French Renaissance-style balconies with sweeping views of the city skyline. XIX is the ideal space for hosting a variety of more intimate gatherings.
- The Conservatory: Serving as the centerpiece of the hotel and a serene gathering place for guests during the soft opening phase, The Conservatory’s transformation reveals more history and detail as the hotel’s seven-story atrium, located on the 12th floor. Bathed in natural light from the carefully restored glass ceiling, the space is reinspired by a Parisian garden café, adorned with lush greenery, quaint awnings, original mosaic tile floors, vintage-inspired sconces, and custom glass lanterns, surrounded by guest rooms and interior-facing suites.
- The Sporting Club: Integral to the property’s renewal is The Sporting Club, a state-of-the-art facility that redefines luxury wellness and fitness experiences. At over 100,000 square feet, it is Philadelphia’s largest fitness space, featuring a full track, pickleball and squash courts, club spaces with bars and lounges, coworking areas, an outdoor terrace, a lap pool, and group fitness classes. Hotel guests have full access to The Sporting Club upon booking, while The Residences at The Bellevue include a membership to one of the most sought-after athletic clubs in the country.
- Offices: Commercial offices are available for rent on floors 5-7 and 11, within the greater destination of The Bellevue. This dynamic work environment features recently renovated office spaces, elevator lobbies, corridors, and tenant suites.
- The Residences: The Residences at The Bellevue offer the opportunity to live within this historic property. A total of 155 sophisticated luxury apartments are spread across seven residential floors, showcasing a variety of floor plans, including studios, as well as 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom suites, each meticulously crafted with high-end finishes such as hardwood floors and stainless steel appliances.
During this soft opening phase, the newly opening hotel dining space, Pergola on the 19th Floor (top level), is open for all hotel guests, residents and friends-of, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner in new American fare combined with an equally elevated cocktail and wine program. In addition to Pergola, The Bellevue offers an on-demand mini bar menu available to order in-room. In late 2025, The Bellevue will unveil several exciting concepts in dining, retail and wellbeing.
