Malaysia: Luxury hospitality company Pan Pacific Hotels Group will add Gurney Bay Hotel, A PARKROYAL Hotel to its portfolio, located close to George Town.
Gurney Bay Hotel, A PARKROYAL Hotel will undergo a phased soft renovation when it opens on 1 September under Pan Pacific.
The 368-room hotel features a 220-cover all-day dining restaurant, a lobby lounge and bar, a ballroom with capacity for 550 guests, four meeting rooms, and four meeting rooms.
Wellness facilities include a fully-equipped 24-hour gym, outdoor tennis court, swimming pool, a kid’s club and pool, jacuzzi, and stream and sauna rooms.
Choe Peng Sum, CEO of Pan Pacific Hotel Group, said: “Tourism continues to play a key role in Malaysia’s economy and the country’s vision is to bring in 35.6 million visitors with the Visit Malaysia Campaign 2026.
“The city-centre Gurney Bay Hotel, A PARKROYAL Hotel will complement PARKROYAL Penang Resort which is located right at the beach at Batu Ferringhi. Both the hotel and resort will benefit from the state’s expansion of Penang International Airport which is set to become the country’s second largest airport. When it is completed in 2028, the new airport will double its current capacity of 6.5 million passengers per year to 12 million passengers per year,” he added.
Pan Pacific Hotels Group owns and manages more than 50 hotels, resorts, and serviced suites across three brands: Pan Pacific, PARKROYAL COLLECTION, and PARKROYAL.
In the first half of 2024, the group opened PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Jakarta in January, PARKROYAL A’Famosa Melaka Resort in February, and Pan Pacific Jakarta in June.
