Hyatt continues record run in development

27/09/2023

This record-breaking total represents approximately 40% of the US-headquartered group’s existing portfolio.
Key growth
Net rooms growth was approximately 6.9% in the second quarter of 2023, taking the worldwide portfolio to 311,171 keys across 1,297 properties.
During this quarter, 24 new hotels of collectively 5,927 rooms joined Hyatt’s system. Notable openings in the quarter included Andaz Nanjing Hexi, Grand Hyatt La Manga Club Golf & Spa, Hyatt Regency Mexico City Insurgentes, Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets, and The Pell, part of JdV by Hyatt.
Mark S. Hoplamazian, president and CEO of Hyatt, said: “For the fifth consecutive quarter we posted record results, demonstrating our unique positioning and continued momentum.”
Brand introductions
This period saw the launch of two brands, Hyatt Studios and Impression by Secrets. The extended-stay Hyatt Studios line marked the group’s entry into the upper-midscale hotel segment in the Americas, with the first two locations named as Hyatt Studios Mobile in Alabama and Hyatt Studios Marysville in California.
Meanwhile, the luxury all-inclusive Impression by Secrets became the tenth brand in the group’s Inclusive Collection, opening its first two sites, Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets and Impression Moxché by Secrets, in Mexico.
Select service surge
Hyatt’s pipeline of select service brands, encompassing Hyatt Place and Hyatt House, is the fastest growing segment of Hyatt’s portfolio in the US.
A key component of this rise is the Hyatt House brand refresh, which launched in late 2022. The next generation of Hyatt House guestrooms will feature residential-inspired room elements such as a modern media console, hard surface flooring, rounded-edge well-lit vanity mirror, vinyl task chairs, updated kitchen island for dining as well as working, oversized ottoman.
The new design is intended to help guests maintain their routine and enjoy the comforts of home when they are away from theirs. Stemming from guest feedback, the new room design aims to meet and exceed guests’ evolving lifestyles and hybrid work models, while upholding the living accommodations travellers have enjoyed in the past, including a cosy living room, a well-equipped kitchen, spacious bedroom, a full closet and a well-appointed bathroom.
