UK: Five-star Mayfair hotel DUKES London is undergoing a refurbishment which involves closing the hotel to allow for “extensive renovations”.
During the refurbishment, which has already begun, DUKES Bar will remain open with its usual operating hours to be maintained.
Interior designer Russell Sage will lead the renovation, and as part of the redesign, DUKES London will also work with a historian to discover more about the hotel’s legacy and that of the surrounding St James’s area. The findings will be incorporated into the hotel’s new identity.
Michael Purtill, general manager at DUKES London, said: “This is a momentous occasion for the hotel and we’re thrilled to embark on a new chapter.
“For decades, our loyal guests have cherished the warmth, charm, and intimacy that define the DUKES experience. This refurbishment allows us to preserve those beloved elements while creating a space that feels elegant, inviting, and unforgettable. It’s our way of ensuring that DUKES London remains an icon of British hospitality,” he said.
The refurbishment is set to be finished in late 2025.
The hotel offers 90 rooms and suites, the Great British Restaurant and DUKES Bar, a drawing room which hosts afternoon tea, several meeting and events spaces, and a gym.
